1. It’s done.  Finally.  Well, mostly.  Live Like This is a book project I started over a year ago and put on hold, knowing that something wasn’t quite right.  I still get that itch in the back of my head that “oh, I should check the sequencing again,” and “my artist statement is terrible,” because what’s scarier than putting something in a book?  It’s printed, it’s bound, it’s done.  I suppose I should have felt the same way about my tattoos, but moving along…

    One of the hardest parts about putting together the project together is how the photographs should be reflected in book-form.  I try to stay away from looking at myself as exclusively “photographer,” as the images included are not always supposed to be just photographs on their own.  Not all the photographs are meant to be able to be hung in a gallery setting—they exist in book form for a reason.  And with that book format comes the additional challenges inherent to the medium: the design, the flow, the rhythm.  They are stories.
